There is such a thing as occupational asthma, work-aggravated asthma and occupational allergic rhinitis. It is possible to be literally “allergic to your job.” But before we make any conclusions, let’s look at other possibilities. Check your home, review it for possible allergens, especially those things you have just started using pillows, rugs, soap detergent or cologne. Use hypoallergenic personal care products and throw out stuff you do not need.
If you suspect an allergen from animal hair or down, keep your pets outside. Vacuum often, change the sheets frequently and clean moldy cabinets under the sink. It’s possible that you are exposed to an offending substance in the morning and your symptoms manifest only when you’re at work. Can your allergy is caused by car air freshener on your way to work? Do you live near the factory, dump or highway? Another important question: Do you smok or hang out in smoke-filled place?
